2 pipe steam banging noise
[Deleted User]
I have an apartment building with 2 pipe steam. Tenant keeps calling about a banging noise that appears to be coming from the boiler room. the noise is consistent happening every 15 min to 30 min or so. Making me believe its not water hammer but a mechanical device. The banging shakes the whole entire apt. I wondering if its a condensate pump, because it seems as if something is closing and making the bang. Theres not to many mechanical devices on a steam system, so Im kind of out of thoughts. Id really appreciate your help thanks.

Banging
I had a job were the neighbor would call to ask them to turn off the heat, it made sooooo much noise. All I did was turn down the pressure .

i suggest you turn the boiler off for the day and then turn it on, and watch it from cold starting up.you can often feel the section of pipe which is banging.
pictures of the pipes which are misbehaving would help!nbc0
