What is the distribution system efficiency for steam, water, air.

Does anyone know what the distribution system efficiency's are for steam, forced hot water, and forced hot air? This does not include the boiler or furnace but only the distribution systems themselves. Any engineers on here know the answer? How about you Steamhead!

I remember reading somewhere that forced hot water and steam systems where around 98% efficient (insulated) and that forced hot air systems where around 65-85% efficient depending on how well insulated and sealed the duct was. This means that 65-98% of the BTU's made by the boiler or furnace make it to the intended heated space via the distribution system depending on that type of system.

    Efficiency

In my opinion the most efficient method of distributing heat is high pressure steam. You can push a lot of btu's through a small pipe and you don't need a pump or fan.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
