Building Science Article Debunks 'Green' Bldgs

Dr. Joe was righteously annoyed at some of the LEED tenets which showcase novelty and "the point game" over where it really should count, energy savings.
I am suggesting that the article be required reading in my office where many of us, myself included, are LEED Accredited Professionals, FWIW.
Thanks for posting on that, David.

Not surprising I guess that the term 'green' is often misused.

Some very valid points articulated there.0 -
lack of focus
excellent article.
The way I see it is the green movement will lose it's credibility and usefulness unless the focus on energy reduction is realized.
Just like our society to focus on the intent and not the results.
Thanks for passing this article along,

Good math in good article
My young adult daughter graduated with a math major, and has now passed the 3rd of 8 tests to become a black-belt actuary, yet I keep crying out to her that most of us mere mortals cannot do even simple arithmetic. Dang!
Joe Lstibureck points out that the analysis improperly compared the mean of apples to the median of oranges.
When the 2 data sets were set up more properly (apples to apples), the results were not statistically significant.
Thanks for giving us yet another dinner-time topic. :-)0 -
joe the comedian
I went to one of his seminars recently. He's like a real smart stand up comedian. He will ask how many architects there are in the room, they all raise there hands feeling all proud, then he starts bashing the dumb ideas that some architects may use (all in fun). Later in the seminar he may ask how many architects are in attendance, a lot fewer hands go up. Really enjoyable speaker
and lots of laughs.
Another good paper by Joe http://www.buildingscience.com/documents/insights/bsi-005-a-bridge-too-far0 -

Very good information
A degree should be awarded to contractors and designers with common sense. So many of the new ideas aren't that new, and the ones that defy common sense should be avoided not embraced as a way to save energy. The ones that do make sense need to be implemented exactly to work correctly. Not slapped together using the required materials without verifying the effectiveness of the assemby.
