Does a stainless steel chimney liner increase noise?

This summer, I had a stainless steel chimney liner installed for my new gas burner. Now that it is heating season, the noise level is remarkably louder. The rumbling sound emanates from the draft control.
Is this because of the metal chimney liner conducting the sound versus the previous clay liner. When the burner starts, it actually sounds a bit scary with a low pitched rumble, but everything is working correctly and CO is zero.

I have heard simmilar reports from other customers as well. I do not have any scientific data to make any substantial comments however.

stands to reason.
you take a basically unsupported semi ridgid pipe that has all those little ridges in them and then push air though at a good velocity and you get sound! or in your case, noise....
a ridgid pipe really has no means to suppress noise.0
