Like a lubricated plug cock. Or maybe just a plug cock. in eather case, yes, you should beable to close this to isolate. It might also have a built in check, but i dont belive so, can you try another picture?

Valve picture and question
what type of valve ,balance can i close this to isolate .first time with camera phone on 3 way mixing valve0 -
looks like a flowcheck to me but kind of a grainy picture. is there a nipple and cap off the bottom? How is the water flowing into and out of this thing?
Cost is what you spend , value is what you get.

I tried to lighten it up,
but still not very good.
My guess is some sort of PRV with built-in strainer that can be cleaned through the top?

Dezurik
Looks like a Dezurik or equivalent plug or balancing valve. Crane, Hammond and others made plug valves also.0 -
