Gas pipe installation

Hi all
I am installing a natural gas line to my shop. Its a direct bury yellow pipe with the risers attached. My question is do I need a special connector for that riser? And if not can I use black pipe to connect and then run it into the shop? It comes up near the foundation and there will be a few inches of exposure to the outside..
Thanks in advance folks.

What brand pipe? We've used gastite plastic, with their risers, then change to black pipe, or CSST. Is this what you're referring to? You can bury CSST if I remember correctly but you have to sleeve it the whole way & vent it- really not worth the trouble in my opinion.

Chris..Thx. I am using the manfactures pipe with there rises. I guess my question is can I transition off their riser with black pipe? It will be outside. There metal riser has this gray plastic coating on it for corrosive protection I assume.

I would refer to the manufacturers specifications. In my design/ installation manuals, they show just what you are describing for a remote gas grill istallation. We did it for a pool heater. If in doubt check with
1. The gas company (LP providers should be well versed)
2. The Local agency having jurisdiction.
I would think you would be able to find the installation details for whatever brand you are using on line as well
Hope this helps

I would suggest you contact the local inspector for advice, if your planning on doing this yourself.
If it's plastic you need a tracer wire installed.
Gas goes boooommm make sure you do this right.0 -
Charlie is this LP or
natural gas? If it is LP there should be a second stage regulator which then allows you to connect outlet piping. If natural gas there should be a meter which then allows you to connect outlet piping to it. Other wise you should not be connecting to this piping.0
