water in one radiator on steam one pipe system

have a customer with recently replaced steam boiler old pipes left except at boiler but now have banging in one pipe only that leads to downstairs bathroom. Water comes out of vent. Original installer has given up on fixing problem. looks like pipe is flat pitched thru the impossible crawl space but customer assures it never happened before the replacement (OF COURSE)They did say they had tried skimming and other remedies before giving up. Could this be a wet steam issue? or are we going to have to dig a trench under this house to replace the pipe? Thanks for any ideas.

what's the pressure? make it as low as possible-a few ounces.
raise up the radiator 1/2 in. or so and check with level.
sometimes you can put the vent on a raised 1/8 in. x 6 in. nipple to give any excees water a place to drain back.
how about the steam valve? could the valve disk have fallen into the body blocking the flow? a quick turn of the bonnet will check that.
how about a sag in this under floor steam line? sometimes you can hear the panting of the steam trying to get through by removing the vent, starting the burn and listening, or holding a source of smoke by the tapping.--well thats enough fun for you this w/e! good luck--nbc

P.S. some settling may also have occured in that part of the building changing the pipe pitch.
