please see the nearby posting on copper.
is 4 in. pipe big enough for that size boiler? i think you need 2 x 5 in. steam supplies going into a 6 in. main.
get a copy of dan's steam book from this site and i think you will see the current thinking about copper headers.
you will also see that if you get that system working properly the occupants will not want to change in 2 years-so quiet and economical it will be!--nbc

help on a steam system!
I am considering pipipng the header on a commercial steam
boiler 1.3 million btu gas with 4" copper.
Is there any danger in this?
This is somewhat a temporary set up max of two years of
usage, so we are trying to economize, and copper is the most economic way to go.
Would a union on the header, help with the expansion of copper?
Any expert advise on this is apreciated.

No matter how temporary
I wouldn't use copper. Why do you say it's temporary?

energy use
PS even in 2 years use, the extra cost of energy and aggravation will more than equal the added effort of doing this job right over doing it wrong!
you could easily use an added 40% of your fuel with a badly installed header, and i know how boilers of that size can spin the meter!--nbc [and i approve this message!]0 -
Do it right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no Copper on the steam side. Mad Dog
