Pressure relief valve operating properly?

Your B&G valve is called a duel valve. It is doing it's job. What has happen your closed system has lost it's air Cushing from the tank in the ceiling. You need to shut off valve leading to tank and drain it fully. May be water logged and may drain slow at first. When done open valve and it will equalize. I recommend replacing old steel tank with a diapham type. It will hold the Cushing of air in place.

Pressure relief valve operating properly?
My wife and I purchased an older house with a natual gas boiler/radiant heat system. I was in the cellar a few days ago and the boiler and water pump kicked on. After a few minutes of the system running the pressure relief valve released approximately one half gallon of water. The valve is manufactured by Bell and Gossett and is in tandum with the pressure reducer valve. The reducer valve is first followed by the relief valve. These valves are the final valves before the water returns to the boiler. As far as i can tell the system is a closed system with a 30 gallon metal tank hung between the floor joist not an expansion tank. Is the relief valve working properly? Any help will be appreciated.0
