offsite computer backup, idea & questions

For example, for my laptop I use a 320gig Mini that comes with a boot CD. It uses 2 USB connectors, one for power and one for data. It makes a complete image of the laptop hard drive so with the boot CD I can restore the entire PC. It also does a complete and incremental backups. For 107 bucks.
The mini-disk fits in my shirt pocket so you can keep or rotate them home/office/friend's house.
I am going to get bigger ones for the desktops and another one for the second laptop and stop making CD's, there is too much data..... For redundency I thought I would copy to the big desktop via the network and have that copied to the desktop backup drive. The wireless net in the house is the slowest link in the chain but works by itself at night.

offsite computer backup idea & questions
Found an interesting piece of software I am thinking of starting to use for office computers. Anyone using it?? Or looked into it. Called Crashplan. Compresses, encrypts and sends offsite to one of your other computers offsite if you choose. Any input all, Thanks in advance, Tim0 -
I subscribe to a local service that contacts my computer, backs up the files and stores it in their server. About $50 per month but they keep the files for one year, that's 365 days worth.0 -
We have a large storage Maxtor external HD and BU the laptop weekly, and the main desktop every night. The lst time my HD crashed was before we bought the backup and I lost everything...

Back up....
and not the toilet.
I use the Carbonite back up service. $50 dollars a year for unlimited backup. I think I have 30 gig there. Lots of photos! It is automatic and being offsite, it will be there in case of fire or other disaster.
