Bronze Tacos 007

Using Bronze Taco 007's for a hot water loop from a steam boiler has caused us some problems. On the horizontal below the water line pumping away from the boiler, and putting pumps on the vertical, we've had the pumps fail. Afterwards we were told by Taco the sediment affects the cartridges.
These are small loops and it's going to be expensive to put in two bronze B&G 100's.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

What kind of
suction-side protection did you use? At least a wye strainer if not a Spirovent Dirt Separator. Also, did you take the piping off near the bottom or higher up but still below the waterline?
A trick I saw was to come off wherever you need to and drop into an over-sized mud-drum, then continue on to your circulator. The idea obviously is to slow down the velocity and let any particulates drop out, then strain or filter the rest.
For example, leave the boiler with a 1" tapping then drop into a 2-1/2" x 1" tee and long nipple (18-24"), then leave off the top with another 1" nipple off a second tee at the other end. The runs of each tee at the ends are plugged for cleaning out.
Granted the Taco cartridges are more of an issue than the bronze material, but they do offer stainless steel body circulators now, as one other idea.0 -

I like
your take on this better re: the bypass which I should have mentioned. I normally do that for reasons of tempering/mixing, even if manual, but the anti-cavitation benefit is a bonus or in the case of your explanation, essential.
Thanks, Noel!
