I'm trying to find out what type of insulation the fiber panels are that surround the base on a gas fired boiler. I have an old boiler that the protective insulation panel has deteriorated and the intense heat is starting to damage the boiler jacket. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You should have good burner man put new firepot liner in.
This would be normal procedure and then analyze combustion. Good luck, Tim0
