Gorton # 1 vs Gorton # 2

Thanks for your help.

My longest main is 50 ft and the other is about 25 ft. Both are 3 1/2 inch (old) black pipe.
From what I've heard so far, venting the mains is critical and the more main venting, the better. Other than wasting money on vents that are not needed,is it possible to "over vent" the mains? I was thinking of using multiple #2s (2 to 4) on each main.

Trying to Compare Gorton #1 vs Gorton # 2

How much bigger in venting volume is a Gorton #2 vs a Gorton #1 ? (I couldn't find any info on Gorton's site on this)

Price wise - a #2 is 2 1/2 times the cost of a # 1 and the #1 would fit in the space better in most instances. I was just wondering how many #1 s I'd have to use to equal the venting of a single #2 ?

Is there any other consideration to think about between the two size vents?

3-1/2 #1 vents to equal a #2's capacity. How long is your steam main and what pipe size is it?

Looks like you could used one of each.I would think more then that would be overkill with your cfm.

Assuming 3-1/2\" is the inside pipe diameter

the longer main should get 2 Gorton #2 vents, and the shorter one should get one Gorton #2. Watch how well they work!
