There is hope... :)

Finally got up the nerve to test my one-pipe steam system this afternoon. I sat watching boiler holding my breath as I read "We Got Steam Heat", listened to water heat up... watched water level remain at a perfect state.. ran up stairs and back downstairs and up and down and a smile spread across my face. Radiators heating up, no leaking, no banging, husband snoozing through it all.

Thank you!!

After two years thank goodness I found this website. Everybody don't give up hope, steam heat can be great!

    Good Feedback!

Nice to hear, Emily. If you do not mind, what were the issues and what was done to resolve them? Curious.

Regardless, it must feel so good to have steam back where it should be.

    Water water everywhere!

The automatic water feed wasn't sealing off so water was slowly leaking in and overfilling boiler, causing lots of leaking and banging. It just took a long time to figure this out. Even after main water line to boiler was closed water was still leaking in, that valve also had to be changed. Basically, the problem was too much water, and a service person who didn't know what was going on. Automatic water filler prob. could be replaced but right now I can control exactly how much water goes in just be closing main water line and for now I think I'm happy with this solution.
