Too much water in my boiler

Hello,

We recently moved into a new house that has a boiler (steam heat). Today we added water and I belive it was too much as water came out of the steam pipes in the bedroom. I released some of the water and now it is showing at mid level on the valve, but the heat will not turn on. Any advice?

Thanks
Angela

    Water showing

I am assuming (a dangerous thing) that you mean water is showing half way in the gauge glass. If that is correct try draining from the low water cut off if it is the type to be flushed, it may be stuck. If it is that type and is stuck you need to have a pro take it apart for a good cleaning. Usually a new gasket is needed when taken apart.

Steam is not simple like water heat, get out a pro to go over it and teach you whats up.

Your manual reset pressure limit switch may just need to be reset because flooding made it think it was over the set limit. Check the pressuretrol and see if one has a reset switch.
