"We don't just paint our pumps green" Buderus and Wilo must be thrilled you are on their side. Another sweet job. We are looking at a G125be with possible solar package for our house. Could possibly save 40-50% compared to our current system. Sweet!

Heres a nice
change out. This was a oil burner and we changed it out to gas.
Ben did this one and yes , thanks to the comments, we've talked about pre-made manifolds.

Just two wishes.. Two Boiler drains one for checking the pressure on the Expansion Tank in the relieved stage... the other one in the lower right hand 90 (Manifold lowest point)
Other than that petty nice !

Excellent job! What brand are the combination stop/purge ball valve that you used on your manifold? I'd like to give them a try the next time, save a tee and a boiler drain! Thanks, Al0 -
Nice!!
Nice job, Scott. Kudos to the crew. Do you insulate the piping on these projects?

Q: Do inspectors in your area accept boiler's pressure switch as LWCO. I don't see one?

Looks very nice. Get the vent on the backflow preventer piped down below the Wilo Star 16 pump. Hunt won't cover it on warranty if it gets dripped on!
I think that makes 3,000,000 and one GB 142's installed in the world out there. I wonder if the GB leads the world's boiler mod-con manufacturer's in installed numbers? After 13 years and millions installed, I think this little gem of a boiler has proved itself well. I am looking forward to the GB 162.
Kudos to the Milne Boys again!!!!!

Water over wire
Nice work. Funny that the first thing I noticed is something I know the least about. Maybe it was the electrician, but why is the receptacle under the boiler? Could have been anywhere. Again, beautiful job.0 -
Flanges
Do those Wilo iso-flanges have checks in them ? Do the flange faces rotate ?
I'm puzzled why the mixture of copper and iron and the resultant need for male adapters ?0 -
Don't gets no Betta, Scott
Really nice. Mad Dog

I guess you don't do this for a living Tony, huh?
If you did, you wouldn't ask questions like that. Mad Dog

Thanks Matt
I will say I spoke to Ben about the tees and male adpts. and next time we'll use a pre-made manifold.
We learn on every job.

Flanges
Yes to both questions. Flow checks and rotating faces.

Huh ?
What do you mean ? I think I'm pretty well established
If I was going to use iron tees, I'd use a threaded air eliminator and go right into that w/o any male adapters. Same with the inlet flanges, they'd be threaded.
Or, use the pre-made copper headers and either sweat it in or use that propress.
I think you've got me confused with Bruce

Everybody does things a liitle different...AND.........
I don't think there is a professional on this site who sometimes has to get the job done with available materials...every job can't be cookie-cutter, exacto perfect with all the perfect fittings that we want. That is the point I want to make. Mad Dog

Geez, Matt
A little touchy aren't ya ? Defending how Scott's crew did a job when I wasn't criticizing to start with.
I haven't seen Wilo flanges before this set of pics, hence the questions about those.
As far as available materials, I'm reasonably sure that this would've been a planned project not an emergency replacement. I was merely puzzled why someone would hop back and forth between iron and copper so much in a short run, especially at the price of propress fittings. I know 3 black nipples cost less than 3 propress male adapters
Have a nice weekend, I'm gonna0 -
Manifolds
Check out Alberta Tee. I special order mine with 1" type L main with 3/4 branches on 8" centres. They come in 6' lengths. It was the same price/branch as 1"x3/4" tees without the price of the pipe, no brainer.
DobberThere was an error rendering this rich post.
