At 140° F Galvanize pipe can separate .Leaving pieces of metal to get stuck in all kinds of places . Even back at the boiler. I Pa. the state inspector will make you remove it ,even in a hot water system.,

Galvanized Piping on Steam
I have a customer with galvanized steam mains and the water was real black, but the water used to be real bad from a shallow well. Will galvanized cause any problems with steam?
Thanks, Bob Gagnon
