Which is better?

Choose the contractor not the boiler, as stated many times on this site, the boiler is only as good as it is installed.

And the answer to what it should cost is " It Depends " there are way to many variables to accurately answer that questions. As they say: "You can have it Cheap, Fast or Good, pick two".

I posted a thread a few days about which brands of boilers are more reliable but at that time I had not gotten any quotes from plumbers so I was not able to include the names. Here are the brands I've gotten a price from:

-BH Smith (I'm not sure about the name, still waiting for the written estimate).
    -Williamson
    -Utica

And does anyone know how much they would go for? a 100K BTU

Make sure the contractor follows the recommended installation instructions to the tee especially for a steam system. If you just focus on price alone and not the details you may end up with a incorrectly installed system, which could cost you more money in the long run.

    I agree

shop the installer not the product.

Ask questions .... ask for references .... Ask how the boiler was sized ?
