Transferring oil to another tank?

A friend is switching to gas and offered me the half tank of oil he has left. Other than buying a bunch of 5 gallon containers and a pump, is there a better way to transfer it I'm not thinking of? What kind of pump should I get? The tank is at ground level so either I go in from the top, or make a low-height sump to pump from.
thanks,
jim

type of pump
Go to some kind of farm supply an get a barrel pump. they're made to screw into a barrel bung. You can srew a hose on and pump into something larger than a 5 gal. cont.0
