Some job photos. My crew has been doing some top notch work lately and I thought I show off a little. I'll start with this one and then show some others as we go along.
We need to take more before photos so you can really see the change, sorry.
This job was a change out for a customer who had a W.M. oil fired boiler that was converted to natural gas with a commercial power burner about fifteen years ago. The boiler was about 25 years old.
We installed two GB 142 with a Wilo stratos pump and zone valves. We installed a Wilo pump as a back up in case something goes wrong and we don't have one in stock. We can shut of the Stratos and turn on the Wilo star to get heat. Thats a B+G low loss header.
Scott
PS: Thats Lou, one of our installers smiling next to a job he didnt work on :)
This one was done by Keith and Dale.

Scott , the guys in your crew do absolutely amazing work . That kind of attention to detail is hardly seen anymore . Keep the pics coming0 -
Nice pipe work
Looks like you build an wall prior to hanging your Manifold and cleaned that job up ?
Side wall vent?
Inspector did not see the reversed Gas shutoff-Union setup ?

Kudos!
A visual pleasure on which to rest your gaze.0 -
Primary Pump
Don't see one. Needed? Modules piped direct return? I don't do Buderus, so I'm not sure how they want the piping scheme to be, but it looks off to me? Splain it to me, Lucy.0 -
Gas cock
Good eye Richard, I did'nt see that either. we hav'nt had the inspection yet. Kieth will be embarased when I tell him. We built the wall after we took out the old boiler and yes, the vents go to a little crawl space and then out.
HB, the Buderus come with a pumping station. Thats the black box under the boilers with the gauges. They handle the primary pumping and have primary tees built in. We took off the P/S tee's and did direct return since each boiler has its own pump. He also could reduced in size.
Now that I look at, he did'nt need to complete the loop and should have capped it off.
Thanks
Scott

Did not understand the piping to?0 -
Do not understand the piping ?0 -
Scott, questions on the pipe up, I dont see any valves on the
outlets of the zone valves. This could be a hassle to change the seal assemblies or complete zone valve when time comes. Just wunderin.0 -
Excellent work!
Good stuff Scott!!

The loop should not be connected the way it is (on the left).
There must be a lot of unintended primary recirculation going on, especially for the boiler on the left. Water will obviously follow the path of least resistance and in this case quite a bit of that flow is going to bypass the hydro separator.
This may be working but it's my guess that you are unnecessarily heating your return flow with hot supply water. You may be limiting the condensing bonus by virtue of this "tempered" return.
Pictures are one of my favorite aspects of the wall, I wish more people would post their work for "peer review".0 -
Thanks for the comments
we've been very busy and obviously this one slipped by.
We'll be back Monday and remove the loop.

Very nice
Do the Buderus controls talk to each other. (and if they do, what do they say?) It's great that your guys care so much to do such nice work. WW

They do speak to each other
and its in english. There is a controlled called a CM10 and that handles the staging of the boilers.
Obviuosly I need to work with Kieth more so he understands the P/S concept. Kieth, JCA and myself will be at Viega this week for the Viega party and then a day long seminar with John Sigethaler. That should help Kieth understand that piping.

nice work
Nice neat work. I have a few questions, Is there a T/P valve on the superstore? Do you guys use anti scald mixing valves on your tanks or just rely on the aquastat to protect from scalding?0 -

LWCO
Doesn't Buderus recommend the LWCO installed on the high side of the returm back to boiler? Don't see it? Nice clean work! How do you like the Wilo?0 -
Mike
The T+P is located on the back side of the tank with a seprate tapping.
Yes, we use the aquastat for temperature controll. At least on this job. On some jobs we will use the a tempering valve.
Thanks
