Baxi Luna vs TT Prestige

Can anyone who has installed the Baxi Luna and TT Prestige give me the pros and cons of each. From what I know both offer 10 year heat x warranty. Baxi has a Giannoni heat x and TT has there own. What makes the TT worth more $$$ ?

to list all the advantages of the Prestige over the Baxi Luna other than:

    - reliability (no call backs)

    - includes a primary pump

We've installed about half a dozen of both and I've gone off the B-L, mostly because they are very difficult to service although I've got to say that I've never serviced a Prestige.

    No contest : )

I've done a few of both. T-T has it, hands down.

    TT is better

I've got a bunch of prestige's out there and they all installed good... Fired up out of the box

Dialed in easy, have no call backs...

I got a prefab pattern that we make in the shop.

Overall the Prestige is a better boiler and the SUPPORT is better than Marathon(which is the importer/tech support for Baxi luna...

    Just my Opion... Heatmeister

  • TT Prestige Pros:
-Their heat exchanger is pretty much self cleaning.
-There are very few parts in the boiler, so if service or repair was needed there would be little or no difficulty.
-The hanging system is simple and very secure.
-Wiring of the boiler is straight forward and simple.
-It comes with the ourdoor sensor.
-Pump that comes with it can be changed out with any standard pump if it fails.
-Can be piped with 1/2" gas line, less $$ on install!
-Vented with PVC vent, low $$ for venting!
    -Simple to program and setup.

    TT Prestige Cons:
-The concentric kit is much larger than the one of the Baxi.
-Doesn't have a DHW plate exchanger. (Not such a bad thing though.)
    -Expansion tank is needed.
    -Backflow and Fastfill is needed.

Based on the Pros and Cons I think it is clear which is the better boiler and why you might pay a little more for the TT Prestige. I feel you are better to put an indirect tank anyway. There is little or no pressure drop through the tank, unlike the DHW plate exchangers. As far as the arguement of using energy to keep the water warm all day when you are not using it goes. The SMART tank, also made by prestige has the most surface area for the heat exchange which does 2 things. Gives you faster recovery than other tanks on the market and keeps the water in your tank hotter longer, so you might only lose 1/3 of a degree and hour, which is minor.

re: Baxi HT vs. TT Prestige

We sell both as a wholesaler (also Vitodens & GB142) and from what I see and hear back from contractors is the following:
Triangle Tube higher grade SS HXer and lower
pressure drop thru HXer, circ is included on the 110, lower cost venting.
Cons are that in Colorado at higher
elevation we can't dial both CO & CO2 into spec (you get one but not the other) so another orfice would be nice but it is not available. Second issue is that if you want to clean HXer have at least 2 ft of vertical space above boiler to pull it out and be careful of the insulation. OSHA approved respirator, sealed clothing, etc. due to it being a carcinogenic. Read page 60 of install manual.

Baxi HT boiler includes circulator & exp. tank on the 1.33 and 380, great Siemans control, the 1.33 w/modulo (21 gallon SS indirect) is a very small footprint and looks attractive, option of indoor feedback w/Siemans control or outdoor reset (don't do both w/continuous recirc on their boiler).
Cons include poorly organized and confusing install manual especially for dialing it in at altitude and changing to LP, and for explaining the Siemans QAA73 options plus venting options are more expensive for vertical venting and going more than 14ft. I could use better tech support from Marathon also but they don't have experience at higher elevations.

All mod/cons have their little issues. Find a couple you like, stick with them, stock some common parts, and annual maintenance w/comb. check is required (just do it!).
