Aw heck, those are babies. In a previous life I was a zookeeper, and we had Wood Bison. Bigger than the Plains. A good bull tops out at over a ton. Watching one jump a 6 foot fence is awe inspiring.
But you're right, those little ladies can make you fill your pants when they try and run you down.
I miss that job.

Doesn't look too happy
Being yanked around by a nose ring until her face is bloody. That's just my opinion, I could be wrong...0 -
two brothers- farmers I know had a bull with a horn curled around growing back into his head. I would see him when we went to pick up hay. One day they caught him in a stantion in the barn & cut off the forn with a hack saw. I think the whole bran shook that day.
I wonder if they used lennox blades

When I was a kid we went out there way back in the 70s. these people on a tour made a ring around a large Buffalo that was lying down so they could take pictures. All was going well untill the big guy decided that showtime was over and he got up and and made his own exit door by stomping a couple of them.0 -
I'll Reiterate
Horrible, simply horrible...0 -
This herd lives on an island in the Great Salt Lake and is extremely well managed. Once a year, they are rounded up and checked for pregnancy, given shots, and released. Some are more upset than others. Herd is 700+ head, and 2-1 girls to boys. 50%+ preg rate. They are very well fed and managed, but certainly wild. Our bison are about 1/3 smaller than Yellowstone plains bison. The one pictured was the only bloody one we saw, most calm right down with the nose ring. The girls got real calm when 'examined' for pregnancy...the folks running the show really care for these beasts. 200 are sold per year to private herds or slaughter.
