Humm! - Very interesting Thanks for the question

Looks like they use the coil of the oil valve as part of the saftey control through a logic board in the primary control and as start windings for the motor. Page 18 of the Riello training manual (Riello 40)

"The solenoid valve coil provides the starting and running circuits for the primary control through a logic board and saftey lockout switch."
Reading on the prepurge:"... through the starting winding of the valve coil ..."

Best not try to replace it with somebody elses coil.

Thank you for the learning oportunity. I read your question and saw the manual out of the cornor of my eye. And said good question. My first thought was a ground wire , but guess that was way wrong.

PS: If you give Riello a cal and ask for their training manual they will send them to you free of charge.

    Thanks

I never thought to ask that question. And my first thought was a ground too.

i have a problem with the valve not opening..even though i put a new 1 on.no oil comes out of the jet line ...could the motor be at fault not letting the valve open??

    Stop Right There

You have not finished the basics as of yet or have you ? To show a point only. I been working on Riellos since installing the old MAC series. I changed maybe four coils two dozen control boxes and pumps, 4 caps two dozen eyes. Had a oil valve stem issue 20 years ago.Note; (If stem is bad just change pump). Motors hold up until they run dry of grease then scream. They say you can't oil them but I have with 95% sucess rate. Seem oil lossens the grease .maybe one bad coulping.

To work on a Riello you need the book after you check the basics because the Riello keeps on running and the parts don't break down often.

Did you check the ohm reading before you change the coil? Does oil come out of the bleeder port when burner runs ? Is the pump still connected to the motor ?
