Steam boiler install
klaus
Member Posts: 183
Here are a few pictures of a temporary boiler installation in progress in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The city steam system was severly compromised in this summers flooding. This unit is going in just for the winter at our main post office. We don't want those packages and letters to freeze up!

after this winter?

It all comes out
It's a temporary set up, get them through the winter, only.
Inside the building there's a steam converter. In the spring the plans call to cut out all the temporary and permanant steam piping as well as the converter and install a couple of boilers for hot water. They're going to add on to the mechanical area to make room for this.
Seems to me like it would have been much more econimical to move forward with that plan but they didn't ask me! We're a sub to an engineer, that's a sub to a general, that does midwest work for post offices/ federal buildings. (Read mark-up, mark-up, mark-up!)
Our scope right now is set-up, pipe-up, and start-up boiler. Three site visits per week while the boiler is operating (projected through the end of April). Shut the system down after use, remove piping, and patch the holes in the wall.0 -
