thanks kp, i read somewhere it was a different compound(edpm)but i ran across a system today with lots of sludge in boiler, enough to clog the relief valve, thought o2 ingress might be an issue. rob

    you would....

not be the 1st. I had a system that plugged the line solid.I tried everything to get it unplugged. I finally removed it.....not great stuff.

it DOES have anq EVOH barrier in its tube composition. However...

On the end of each pipe where it is connected, where the inner tube wraps around the barbed fitting, I am speculating that there is oxygen ingression at that point. But it is pure conjecture on my part. But the SLUDGE has to be coming from somewhere...

I know that Watts will say that it is NOT rubber, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and smells like a duck...

thanks for the info guys. this system is about 15 yrs. old. no real problems till now. still have good flow thru loops, but sludge did block relief valve. system was left disabled until i could leak check the loops and thoroughly flush entire system. do you think that a good water cond. with o2 scavengers would be much help? compatible with tubing? thanks again. rob
