    How can I determine if my steam is dry or not?

    The boiler leaks on the attached photo have been fixed. Note the horrible plumbing job.

    I obtained quoted to rebuild the piping to the main, bit the cost is just too great to afford.

    Would there be a tangible benefit to properly re-pipe the risers from the boiler so that the mains are at least fed properly from above the Hartford Loop? (I know the Victaulic joints all inappropriate, but for now, they work). This is simply a matter of spending a little now if it can save energy.

    On a positive note, the system works and there is no banging or knocking. So unless we can get more efficiency, we will keep things as they are.

    Thanks for the feedback. It kills me to look at the way it was piped. But connections to big 4-inch pipes and a ten year old boiler means I guess we'll just wait it out a bit longer.
