    Cleaning LWCO

I have a Weil McLain 368st oil fired boiler, with a m/m #67 Lwco, how do you get the scale off the wall of the housing inside. In the summer the boiler is used for HW the Lwco will stick, in the winter it is fine. Is the chemical Rohmar good for this . Thanks Tom

    Important safety device

It's easy to knock of the barnacles with a scraper. Mac & Miller recommends blow down weekly, disassembly annually, replace if corroded or not operating properly!!, replace every ten years. I'm guessing if yours isn't working properly it's way more than ten years old or hasn't been maintained properly. Not sure if a failed LWCO could hurt you but it has cost a lot of people the price of a new boiler.

    No

It does'nt need to be clean, only needs to not restrict the movement of the float.

Take the dirt pocket off and scrap the sides with a screwdriver. Warning do not go side to side the 2" way it doesn't take much to put a hole in the bellows of the float. If you scrape the rust barnicals off and get the mud out from under the float it should work fine. Push up on the float with your finger and let it back down it should move freely. With the burner running open the blowdown valve the unit should stop. If it doesn't sometimg is restricting the movement of the float.
