Oil to NG on Biasi

checking if we in the downtown district would use NG if it was piped up Main Street (gas main stops at the power plant). I would consider converting one or both Biasi's.

The side of the building would stay cleaner and so would the boilers. Since I am in ME only part-time the potential higher cost would be acceptable.

Are NG burners available for the small Biasi? Perhaps a modcon would be better with the Biasi to go to eBay.

Doug, you can throw a ng burner into your Biasi. Not sure what the utility du jour will be willing to do. Since Northern was bought out recently, new gas lines have been stopped. Maybe a time of year thing. Not sure. I don't remember what you have for a control strategy on your twins. Mayhaps that would be a place to invest.

    I think

Biasi/QHT markets the HeatWise SU power gas burner for these boilers, as several Biasi-based variants such as Solaia do. The SU is a real nice unit.

    the only thing....

is that Dougs set up is a balanced flue/ direct vent oil. He would need to figure out a way to power vent now....
  • Thanks Guys. I am

going up next month to turn the heat on and will have a chance to check with the Town Manager on the NG. We would have to have enough people willing to use it to get the pipelines installed. The town is also looking at wind power and using some of the extra steam (from the cogen plant) to generate electricity.

IIRC, the power plant uses up to 93 million cu.ft a day and I can see it from my place. (but I can't see Canada)

Converting the direct vent might be an issue. I suppose the venters could be installed on the outside of the building and connected to the existing vents.

Edit: I found this on direct venting the boiler and use gas. Hmmmm.....
