What the notice doesn't say..
Just read that recall notice: It doesn't say why it is a problem for those plastic ears to break and the motor assembly to rotate. Am I wrong in assuming this could let the vent damper itself remain closed while the motor rotated and signaled the boiler all was ok to fire up?
Isn't that a potentiallly life-threatening situation? Wouldn't products of combustion spill into the living space. Get recycled as makeup air? Cause incomplete combustion? Make a freakin' lot of CO? Kill somebody?
Maybe I don't have enough information, but this certainly looks a lot more serious than the tepid recall notice makes it appear.
