What Size Oil Line?

use the smallest line needed for the --application --the smaller the line the less oil the line has to move and the more chance of it not gelling -- i have A Suggestion for you --insulate your oil line --put some kind of windbreak around the tank -or the all-in 1 tank enclosure-checkout www.oilstoragesolutions.com for examples ----its easier to move oil through the smallest line that would work for the run of tubing and gph of your burner -- if you put a windbreak, correct size line, pitch your oil tank,clean-out any water in the tank,----THE IDEAL way to go with out door tanks are run single pipe oil line to a tiger loop - with the tank in an enclosure --every couple years have the tank checked for water -and dealt with--if you do those things you wont have a problem -i work in Westchester county and have fixed a handful of problem systems following those guidlines --

    What Size Oil Line?

Hello. I'm installing an above ground 275G. tank outdoors on Long Island, NY. I was planning on using 3/8" copper tubing for delivery to burner, but I have seen some outdoor installations using 1/2". Would the larger tubing be a benefit in extremely cold weather? Is there any other reason to use large tubing? Thanks, jdl

are you going to put the suction line from the bottom of the tank or through the top ? is the line going to buried or in any cement ?? Long Island is not consider extreme cold for #2 oil -- if it were then it would be commonplace in your area to burn K-1 in the winter

    3/8

this should be fine. Most times i have went on a supposed gelling it's water.(well ice )Be sure you use a flip cap. Also all plugs tight.I know you hear of condensation buttt i fell most water comes from snow on top outside tanks ,melts and if plugs finger are tight the water follows the threads. royboy
