LWCO bad or HX leak?

I have a unique customer who has a steam boiler that used to service a section of a building, but now it just makes their DHW. I got a call about no hot water and found the boiler flooded all the way till water was shooting out the vent and flooded the room. Issue is after draining and firing, I cannot get the level in the sight glass steady (slowley fills until water line tops sight glass), even with the make-up water shut off and am wondering what the best way to test for a HX leak is? I tried to isolate the indirect, but the old gate valves do not close well. I know one hoffman 55 F&T is bad, but that would not allow the boiler to flood like this...

If I'm Understanding
Tim, I'm seeing this as a horizontal storage tank with hairpin bundle. If the make up to the boiler is off (and holding) and the condensate pumps off, the only supply is from the domestic. If you shut down the boiler and break the union at the trap, I'm sure you'll find the source. Good news, in my experience they are seldom in real bad shape and the leak is easy to repair. Depending on the bundle, it might be in a tough spot to get at but clean it up and a little Silfos and the problem is solved. Good Luck0 -
So why in the H_LL don't the new LWCO's line up like the old ones??? I went back and it was flooding and killing the domestic stopped it. The new N47-2 does not line up like the old one. I will have to re-pipe the fill line and on top of that, the 1" nipple out of the block just fell apart and has to be extracted. Late night for Timmy...think of me at dinner...

Just got in, and the cust has hot water! Now, that's what service is all about...it's what a pro does. A new LWCO, new #55 trap guts, tap out a collapsed 1" nipple, replace the fill line, all in 7 hours and home by 12...
