Bolier Outdoor Air Intake Duct

Check the installation manual. Sounds like a short cut/budget cutting measure to me. Most boilers I've install require metal ducting for the fresh air.

    Boiler Outdoor Air Intake Duct

My new Biasi B4 boiler has been installed and looks very nice. One thing that looks cheap though, is the flexible ducting the plumber installed to bring in the outdoor fresh air. It looks like cheap flexible dryer venting. Should I insist they install sheet metal ducting or is there a reason why this flexible duct was installed? All the other work they performed is beautiful. Thank you.

We usually use pvc pipe hooked by to burner box cover. What size is this flex hose and any pictures? If it is around 1 1/2", sounds like mobile home fresh air line which goes from hard pipe to flex right at burner.

    Outdoor Air Intake Duct

It looks like plain ole shiny metal 4" flexible dryer vent. This is for a Beckett NX oil fired burner. Is this something I can easily change myself from aluminum duct and elbows purchased at Home Depot or is there more to it?

there"s ALWAYS more to it /// where is the installation manual -- you need to know minimum size requirement, maximum # of 90's and feet of run --where you enter the building---above snowline for your area -- prefferably away from any areas with car exhaust and other considerations--access to cover to clean grate every 6-months THERES ALWAYS more to it
