This boiler installed by contractor now out of business. originally i found the #30 expansion tank water logged on this 8 burner weil mcclain CGA Gold boiler. noted that the air relief, tank, and water inlet B38 on the return side low about 5 ft off the ground. The radiators on the first floor were upm aainst the carpet. We raised them the width of a 2 x 4 [1.5 inches]. the pressure gauage must be broke as it says 40 pounds and yet the 30# relief has not popped.Left the pump on over nite to see if the spiral has bled any air out. Question: #1-Will the water specialities work OK on the return low? #2-Is expansion tank large enough? #3-There is no coin vent on 2nd floor, which I will add, but was hoping Spiro would vent it out anyway #4-is the Spiro directional? Thank you. Bob Borders

All I know is...
Spiro is not directional, it being lower than the top of the boiler does not help it with air removal but is probably not critical, the spiro may eventually get all the air out but standard procedure is to bleed air from each radiator separately for best/quickest results. You can just loosen the plug carefully just until you hear the air start hissing out and quickly screw it back in when you get water. Don't remove it completely unless you want water everywhere.
Good luck, congrats on the new baby!0
