wayne air band

went to fix a leaky pop off and ended up replacing the amtrol tank, while waiting for unit to cycle gave customer a courtesy eff. test.the excess air was way too high,95%,i loosened the air band on the wayne burner and it was downhill from there.could never get the air under 90% excess, even tried blocking part of air band with flue tape
just to see what would happen, not many wayne's locally, any
input would be appreciated

    Maybe

There is a 2-pc. air shutter?...some older burners had these...a band over top of a band. Check all other possibilities first, pump pressure, proper nozzle size/pattern/spray angle, cone, etc.

    wayne's world

could be a major air leak before the flue pipe, have you done a smoke test with the air band shut? what boiler or furnace is this in?

    What head?

What head is in it some of them adjust the air by sliding the drawer forward or back. It's a tappered cone. Also If the draft is to high you will have problems getting efficency as the high draft will pull excess air in. Give wayne a call and ask for their engineering manual. That way you can have the specs for all their burners handy when you need them.
