Boiler by-pass piping

Hi guys. Ineed your help to jog my memory.
I'm told i'm replacing a large residental h/w boiler (300tbtu) next week. Only thing I found out about the job is the approx. rating, it has big (?) pipe, and 5 circs with one having 3 zone valves all on the return, and not to be moved to the supply. I'm thinking I need to at least install a by-pass between supply and return. But i'm not sure of just placing a tee between the circs and the boiler and piping ( what size?) to a tee into the supply will work properly.

5 circs and zone valves? You should really straighten this install out and get all the zones in order. Sounds like a mess. Hard to say if you need boiler protection bypass or diff press bypass. I really try not to reconnect to all the mess...

Agree with Tim. Who knows what problems are lurking on this job before you get there. Ignore the visible signs or potential problems and you will be married to them.

In a few weeks you may hear - "Everything worked fine before you put in this new boiler thing. You must have done or changed something".

    Know what your getting into.
