    service heads up...

On many boilers with spark ignition, there is a 1k resistor in the right angle rubber spark connector, same goes for some of the flame sensors, if you have your finger around the angle part when you pull it off, there is a good change you will snap the neck of the resistor wire going into the connector – so please pull it from the bottom of the boot, this happened to me on a knight boiler, I had had a bad board and in diagnosing back and forth I must have broken the resistor and I fried the replacement board – because sparking into an open secondary, kills the primary drive transistors, just like open spark plug wire in cars is the primary cause of ignition module failures, mechanics know, that if the module dies, – they need to change the coils and wires or it will come right back

    Brooklyn ny dirty gas!!!
If you are in an area where there is a lot of construction going on and you get ignition lockouts and a pressure test shows significant drop on open, undo the 4 hex cap screws going to the gas valve inlet block, and pull it off, then clean that yellow powder off the inlet screen with a soft bristle tooth brush and vac cleaner – this will manifest itself in weird ways, like a steam boiler with a full but quiet fire that doesn’t produce steam, and lock-outs on modcons – cast iron hydronic boilers will mask this problem for a long time as they will fire and heat the water enough for all but the coldest days
