Single zone to 2 zone H/W heat

I am converting my single zone H/W heat to 2 zones. The piping is already separated so now it is time to wire the valves to the existing panel. Do i just run the thermostats to the valves and then run the valves to the panel? Connecting the wires to where the thermostat connects now? If so, where to i put the transformer? My original setup has a Detroit panel and that is connected to the circ. pump and a transformer that goes to a PENN Temp control that is on the pipe feeding the rads. Do I need this PENN Temp control?

Wow...at ease, soldier! You need to get the wiring diagrams for the valves you are working with and follow the diagrams. they will show you how to interface the other controls as well.

You also need to be sure your boiler has protection from cold return temps if you plan to have 2 or more zones....
