    Worth it?

I was poking around the NSTAR rebates tonight and saw that they are offering a $100 rebate for "Weather Responsive
Controls for Oil or Propane Forced Hot Water Heating Systems". The descriptions on the rebate form for the installed equipment are "Outdoor Reset Control" or "Boiler Firing Control".

Can I assume that the Beckett Heat Manager falls under the latter category of "Boiler Firing Control"?

Since I'm unlikely to change out my oil-fired boiler (hot water baseboard heat) any time soon, and am looking to try to save on oil usage this winter, I thought this may be worth the small expense - I mean the part is <$200, install $$ will be something but not significant and I get $100 back.

    What's the downside?

    Thanks for any thoughts.

    No, I don't think so...

The rebate form from NSTAR (my electric company) is titled "Weather Responsive Controls for Oil or Propane Forced Hot Water Heating Systems" and also says "You must be an NSTAR Electric residential customer installing a weather responsive heating system control on a forced hot water heating system".

And the Heat Manager brochure says "Can be installed on most new or existing gas, oil, or propane fired boilers."

    NSTAR Link

Here's the link to the actual form (pdf):
    NSTAR Rebate Form.

A link with all the "rebate forms" from NSTAR is here.

(EDIT: this program may only be for Massachusetts residents as it says you must qualify for MassSave program)

Appreciate your opinion on whether this qualifies and also what you think of the HM.

    Thanks!

Yes it would qualify and yes it does work and with the rebate and Beckett's 10% savings guarantee is absolutely risk-free
