Tim,. Will the Grundfos UPS1558fc replacement provide low head pressure and high volume like the B & G 100?

    Motor Change

Well, after 5 long years it seems that my trusty old B & G 100 needs to be repaired to replaced.... What are my options...

Is it worth trying to have it repaired or do you just replace them? Are they easy to replace?

    System

Gravity conversion, WM Ultra 155, continuous circulation on secondary, the standard Taco 11 on boiler loop. Primarily and one secondary loop only.

Is the B&G only 5yrs old??

What died on it, coupler i.e. spring thing inside or is it leaking or frozen. If just a coupler, replace coupler and motor mounts and voila, fixed. If bearing assembly, may be better putting on a Grundfos ups1558fc replacement. Pump will mate right up to the flanges of old B&G. Good luck, Tim ps. don't forget to oil it 2 times a yr, not too much either.

If you replace that B & G, save it. It makes a great boat anchor.

A 15-58 would pay itself off in 2 years...

At 10 cents per kwh, a 15-58 on speed 2 saves 1.2 cents per hour compared to s B&G Series 100 each year in savings, on a $100 investment. 1.75 amps vs only 0.70 amps under load. If you pay 20 cents per kwh the savings are $120 a year.
