Someone told me
today that California is having a problem with solar panels being stolen at night. I'm thinking it must be photovoltaic and not on the roof. HO's are being told to mark their panels so they can identify them if they're found. What next? WW

Crazy
I would think solar thermal, for the copper . For some reason I notice most panels on Califofnia jobs on the ground. Must have something to do with those Spanish tiles, may earthquakes?

I guess the
manufacturers should put serial numbers on them if they don't already. WW

On The Ground.
California is dry and dusty so you have to wash them a lot and its easier to do if they are on the ground. If people start stealing them I suggest route their output through the frames.0 -
I'll add...
...that it's not hard for technicians to get fasteners that are tough for the average thief to remove quickly without the right specialty tools. Ground level panels in out of the way places deserve that extra consideration.

I'm glad they stole it
I have been waiting for this. It means that solar is now worth something, it's becoming mainstream, it's not just for the crazy people anymore. Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for the guy who got his panels stolen, but this means even the crooks now are going green. They have been stealing used vegetable oil here, when just a few months ago sub shops used to have to pay to get rid of it. Renewable energy is worth something now.
Thanks, Bob Gagnon
