Hard to say how old the house is but found out today it used to have gas lights in it.

How old is it?

Girl friends mother has a boiler, I know never a good start to a story. Anyway it is a round H.B. Smith coal steam boiler converted to oil converted to gas. tester says it is firing 72% when steaming. I was just curious where I can look it up to see just how old it is? Yes it is slated to be changed but you know how these things go.

Hard to say. Probably 1900-1930s. How old is the house? It is likely the original boiler

an "HB" or "Menlo" model. The usual things we know about snowman boilers apply to both of these, the most important being they're probably not more than 40% efficient, overall, when converted.

yeah i know it is a hog just remembered the contest smith had for oldest working boiler and was wondering if i was even close in age.The bacharach digital combustion analyzer says 70%. but I know a lot of heat is just going everywhere but into the water.
