Joist track vs Zurn plates

I only use joist track now. I have used thinner plates, Heatlink and Uponor. The thing I like about the joist track is that often times the customer can put them up and save some labour costs. I feel they do a nicer job as well as running at the same (or close) to the same temp as the slab.

Bang for my buck.
Or my customers buck really. I have been using the Zurn plates they are thin like 30 gauge aluminum.I staple them over the tube from the bottom. The joist track plates are much thicker and require a screw. This means more time because a pneumatic stapler is very fast with the thin plate. Also the product itself is about three times as much. I have been told that it will reduce my running temps a lot. Has anyone used both am I doing my customer a favor or is it money that will show return in thirty years maybe.0 -
That was the pitch that the I was given. If they do run at temps of 100-130 that's significant. I have to run the thin plates at 169 on a design day.0 -
Extruded Plates
They do run at those temps. Zurn also sells an extruded plate, as do most of the major manufacturers.0 -
faster
Use a roofing gun with 3/4 nails, we order the bostich nails from a local lumber yard, they did not stock them before. Have been using them for about 8 years, since we switched over to the heavier plates, they do make a difference.0
