Coal Stoker fired boiler

Without seeing your auger I believe it is the feed adjustment for the quantity of coal that the auger will transport. Usually varies with the type and size coal that is readily available in a particular location. Nothing like a good running coal boiler to give you great heat and also is the cheapest to run. There are a number of companies that still make coal boilers. They are well-made and virtually indestructible. Most are so strong that there is a good market for used coil boilers. Stay with your coal boiler.

Coal quantity adjustment on old stoker
I have an old Chicago coal fire boiler. On the auger tube between the buner and the coal box is a large knob. What is it for?0 -
A convenient carry handle for finally pulling that old, polluting system out and replacing it with a eco & cost friendly system....I have only seen one coal stoker / auger in place and it was there because the owner did not pull out the old system when the new one was installed....
