Boiler Service

The one property where I installed all the boilers is on the Britteny coast in Dinan. The property where I'm doing the Heat Pumps in in Ecouen 15 minutes from Paris. The one outdoor unit is capable of handling up to 40 indoor units. It's been a learning experience they do a lot of things diffrently then we do. I'm getting the hemp sealing down on the straight threaded pipe.

    Boiler Service.

After seeing all of the negativaty on the "Viessmann Recall" Forum it accured to me that again some people allways are looking to blame everyone else but themself!!

Does anyone even check for a gas leak on the annual Heat Inspection anymore???.

Yes Heat Inspections!!, or is this something of the past??

If one actualy would sit down a couple minutes and READ the service instruction of Viessmann it is petty detailed and also goes into a Warning/Caution about the gas pipes/fittings.

Just put that boiler on the wall, and forget about it until something goes wrong with it..

Or, just drive your car until the Brakes fail get into an accident and then blame that manufacture, It's there fault isn't it!!

    How about That?

Boiler do not need service!!??? HM

Does anyone even check for a gas leak on the annual Heat Inspection anymore???.Ever hear of a combustible gas tester?
they cost some were around $150.

Or:Buy a BWM ,race it,get into an Accident and blame BMW because you did not know that the car drives that fast!

Remember the Coffee Spill in the Lap?

Just all to often do i get called on boilers that were installed by someone and never even dialed in or serviced!

Nobody is perfect,O rings as we all know dry out or get brittle, get pinched ,so maybe we as professional should make sure that we check for this and make sure that it's safe.

Is that not part of or Job??

    Factory set ?????

Richard; Did't you know the factory knows every detail of your instullation and has per adjusted the boiler of them. I get it all the time from the so called pro's. "You don't need to check that it's set at the factory." I have gone in behind these "Know it alls" because they couldn't get the units to run right. I have found they didn't even tighten the unions. In one home I lit my torch to light the pilot. You would have thought it was a jet engine the roar of the flame coming from the union. 5 full turns of the union by hand before tighteng with a wrench. I went into a school to repair a water heater in the summer. The boiler was burning. After some investigation. I found that they wired spill switches in parallel with the high limit. So the gas valve was being held open by the spill switches. Nice time bomb in a school of 800 children. Boiler sitting there at 260 degrees. Can you imagine if something allowed the pressure to drop. They don't even know how to clock the meter. You turn the gas boiler on and it sounds like a train coming through the unit is so over fired. You suggest they read the instulation mamual and you get I installed thousands of them. They complain the equpiment doesn't do what it advertized to do, but won't make the effort to learn how to install it right. They call themselves pros but they are only there for the money. Then they have the nerve to bad mouth people like you and me for testing.

Yes, i see it every day

Do you think that it needs to be"Governed" better?

And if so ,How or who?

Maybe a Programme like This: The manufacture sends a factory tech out to each start up to dial it in?

Since most of Installers do not even own a Combustion analyzer!(Not us Wallers)

This will be in "they're" (the manufactures) own interest avoiding future calls to the support line Like:"This thing don't work"!!

    Think: Maytag repair man...

Maybe the Manufactures can expand on the"Partner programme"
Offering discounts on new equipment for yearly feed back on "Fall heating Inspection/service records", this will also incorporate a Print out with date of the Combustion test!

    Is this to much control?

    Factory start up

Richard: That may not be a bad idea. That is how it works in France. To get the warrenty the factory rep comes out and does the final setup and start up. You can start them up yourself but if you don't have them come in and check it there is no warrenty. The installers would either have to learn to install them right or pay to have it changed by the tech who comes out to start the unit.
I have 14 boilers, 5 tankless water heaters, and a quad zone ductless heat pump. They all checked out and are now under warrenty. My next project over there is a Ductless Heat Pump system in an 18 bedroom chateu.
Anyway It would be a good idea to have a simular progam. Where a factory rep comes out and inspects the instulation before instating the warrenty.

Hemp sealing is all we used to do in Germany too.

    yes all day long....

Taking a Saw blade to them Treads and roughing them up.

Then weaving the hemp into the joint Clock wise...then take a steel brush...then the gooh or Mega lock..

After one must remove the access Hemp with the Saw blade to make it look gut to.

Lots of work but no leakers.
