And growing by the day. Bail-out will put him $2,300 more into debt.

And every man, woman, and child owes the same..

    Debt

If we do a lousy job, we don't get paid, lose a customer and get bad mouthed all around town. These people do a lousy job and the get 100 mil bonuses, taxpayer bailouts and a slap on the back. Only in America.

A real plan that could really work

I was sent an e-mail from a friend, with an attachment regarding some guys plan to bail out the economy.

It is in quotes below. The typos are how I got it. I just cut and pasted it in here.

I have no Idea who this Birk guy is, however I feel like I want to vote for him for president.

    """""The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

This idea sounds just crazy enough to possibly work, so naturally it won't
be given serious consideration. How great is our bureaucracy!!

    Hi Pals,

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve
    It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bonafide U.S.
    Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child.
So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.

That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in thei r pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who
lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting
back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of
trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is
being proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S
    Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.
    Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
    Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.
Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'
But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!
How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington
    DC

And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5
Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.
Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

    Kindest personal regards,
    Birk

    T. J. Birkenmeier, A Creative Guy & Citizen of the Republic

PS: Feel free to pass this along to your pals as it's either good for a
laugh or a tear or a very sobering thought on how to best use $85 Billion!!"""""

    Check the math...

Yeah, I saw this too, but the math is wrong by three orders of magnitude (break out a calculator if you don't believe me)... 85 billion divide by 200 million is 425 not 425,000. Given that the 700 billion worked out to an additional burden of $2300 per person, this should be obvious.

    You are right

    Phil,

I did not bother to check the math. You are right.

However, if he could seem so convincing and con me, to get me to not even bother to even check his math, I think that he would then definitely qualify for president. :0

    not $2,300

Actually Josh assuming your son grows up to be a taxpayer it will be alot more than that. Of the 330 million people if you deduct those on wellfare, illegal imigrants, those in prison, retirees, children, and other assorted scum how many people pay taxes??? probably no more than what 80-100 million? now how much do we all pay?

    Mad Dog,

I actually wrote out a check to the U.S. Treasury for $2,000,000,000,000.00

Am damned close to mailing it. It'll be just as good as the paper they're trying to get the government to buy.

By my parent's standards I'm a spendthrift who can't save. By what appears to be "modern" standard--for citizens AND government AND "conservative" bankers, I'm a damned pinch penny. Only credit card bills I owe are on 12-month no interest and they're always paid before the time expires.

I may be goofy, but I do my best to be reasonable. Am very glad now that I took a bit of a tax penalty on an inheritance to pay off my mortgage. The remaining investments are loosing value as I write.

A few years ago, I started writing to my elected officials (national and local) among other things pointing out the RIDICULOUS speculation and LUDICROUS concentration on "glitz" without solid form and mechanics. I even gave a few suggestions... They obviously fell on deaf ears and now I'm MAD AS HELL!

Swampeast MO has been fairly well insulated from the real estate crisis, but the high end has essentially died with the "value" of the McMansions falling like a rock. Guess who's going to be screwed under in the next reassessment? The low end whose values remain essentially unchanged. Guess who will be utterly bent over against their will? Fools like me who have the skill, time and patience to turn a nice, old house ("unsavable" when I bought) back into a nice house. Rather big and fancy, but only through my own sweat. Insurance company already insisted on $450k in insured value and that was with the ground floor in bare studs!

How about a "Boston Tea Party" of granite countertops?

    Perhaps this mess

was created to divert attention from the energy mess and the one trillion $ in invasion costs mess. Seems to be working, no one is talking about heating costs. The news does not even post gas prices lately let alone about drilling.

Seems the financial terriorists have landed in force.

Perhaps it is, just as I have written, a PERFECTLY engineered plot on the part of a mad man in the order of James Bond movies to destroy not only our country, but the world with the slime flowing out of the Himalayas to create their "perfect" society.
