O.T. - Dryer vent hoods

Over the years I have had more than a few complaints that the laundry room was too cold, even when I had plenty of heat in there. When I went solar and shut off my boiler I really noticed how cold the laundry room was, it was freezing. I measured the bottom of the dryer with a laser thermometer and it was 30 degrees, about the same as the outdoor temp. A loose fitting dryer vent provides a direct conduit to the outside, it was filling up the room with ice cold air. Figuring the low price of this vent, it may be the cheapest way to save energy, with the quickest payback. It's a great small project for a homeowner to tackle.
Thanks, Bob Gagnon

I have to replace the outside vent
for the clothes dryer , and I really hate the cheapo thin aluminum ones you find at HD or Lowes . Does anyone know where I can find a sturdy one that'll last and doesn't look like garbage from the outside ? I have a fresh air intake made by Field that's connected to the butrner . Made of thick aluminum and built to last . Something of that quality would be just the ticket . Thanks in advance .0 -

Creative Energy Technologies
Has anyone tried one of these yet? I bought one and it seems well constructed, although I haven't put it in yet. It is the plastic one with an elbow that pushes up a pvc cap like a piston. It looks like a mushroom.
Thanks, Bob Gagnon

Hi Bob: since I'm a energy fanatic I've ran 3 of these ( 1 on a dryer and 2 more on 110 CfM bathroom fans) I love these Creative vents hands down and will clearly pay for themselves...Paul ( there still good after 10 years in use, but I do check them ALL and do cleanout yearly)0
