Paul Fredericks came up with a great idea.

If we could borrow a place in Westchester county (maybe part of someone's warehouse?) for an evening, Paul would bring his band to play. We could have some food and some beer and charge per-head to be in on the fun. All the money goes to help Alan.

We could use some ideas, suggestions, and some sponsors. Who's in?

That's pretty short notice if I remember correctly. Lots to do. The big thing we need is a location. Who's got a connection in Westchester County, or close to it.

We also need a whole bunch of people to attend. Let us know

Westchester is north of NYC and Brookhaven Township is about 60 miles east of there on Long Island.

    Size?

Do we have a rough idea of how large a hall we need?

Nothing comes to mind now, but I can make some phone calls.

For starters I'd figure we need to fit about 50 people, but it could be more.

    Don't like to volunteer people.....BUT

Supply house Rick's outstanding old company, N & S supply has a branch in Brewster (Westchester CO). The Nussbickel Family is Very, very generous and philanthropic. Just a thought. If Fredericks has his band, I'll sing Born to be Wild!!!!!!!Mad Dog

    Seeing is believing....................................

I can sing alot of Sabbath & Deep Purple , Cream too although not like Jack Bruce. I have excelled at a few things in life: knocking the @# outta opponents on a field; Pipe fitting; sreaming like SCREAMING LORD SUTCH & THE SAVAGES. The only one here who may have even heard of him is Supply house rick. Mr Hunt ASSURES me he can sing like Halford from Priest....that remains to be seen, and I hearby challenge his vocal chords to a scream off!!!!!!!!!!!! Mad Dog

  • he's definitely around

Had some serious medical problems and will be out of work for a while. Came through his bout in the hospital quite well. Has some surgery coming up in a couple of weeks or so. Saw him a couple of weeks ago when he got out of the hospital and he was looking quite well. Ruthe

    What was the diagnosis?

    What happened to Alan?
  • sick

I will leave it to Alan to disclose any pertinent info that he wants to. Just that he has and will have a fairly long recovery time overall. But he looks good.

Just to set the record straight I’m alive and as well as can be :)

As Ruthe mentioned I’m fighting of an infection and the good news is the antibiotics are working. I worked around the office last week and still tire easily but I did not experience pain just a little discomfort.

I’ll be spending some time with my doctor tomorrow to discuss further action that is being planned leading up to my surgery. It’s unclear exactly how much time I’ll miss from work between now and during and after the surgery. So once again I do appreciate every ones thoughts and prayers along with the extremely generous contributions that have been made by so many. Thank you and God bless.

    Your friend in the industry,
    Alan R. Mercurio

There was an error rendering this rich post.

  • Paul,,,

I can't find your email address, if there's anything I can do beforehand or the day of email me and let me know. I can pretty much do whatever. If'n I was still a drinker I'd even give those other guys a run for their money in the scream off. ;)
  • :)

Good to hear about the alive part Alan! I've been locked out of the forum on a cookie issue for a few days so when I read that post a few back I said, "Uh ohhhh" Get better soon!

    Place

There are several places here Upstate that I have access to. Would Schenectady/Albany area be out of the question for everyone?

That's a bit of a run for the Long Island guys. And I'm not sure the rest of the band would be game.

We could use my house, but it would have to be good weather only.
  • How about

I call around Danbury for a place like the VFW or such per Dan? I'll have some time this afternoon. Or pick a better town, I'm shootin' in the dark in relation to where everybody is. Danbury is a little over an hour away for me. I think, I ain't been to Danbury in a while.

Danbury is a good central location. As far as a vfw goes, they're going to charge for the room. I was trying for a place to use for free. The other thing is liability. I'm sure we;d want some beer, and many places like supply houses may worry about liability issues.

    Anyone with any connections?

    I polled today and concensus

has it the Elks Lodge on Main St in Danbury is inexpensive, and would do the trick.

I know this to be true since I was there several months ago for a stag. Big room, stage, tables and chairs included.

I know guys that have their game dinners there.

My parents had their wedding reception there 55 years ago, it's a cool building that time forgot.

    It has steam heat ;)

If this is interesting, let me know and I will find rates, etc.

Looks like this is shaping up

I'm proud of you guys. Paul and I talked about dates and it looks like I'm not going to be able to be there, but I can sure help get the word out. Thanks for running with this.
