Replace wet return or not?
Is there any reason to replace a wet return if it is not leaking and works? My question is simply motivated by the fact that the boiler water on my 3-year old boiler gets rusty from the wet return. It was flushed out when the boiler was installed.
My assumption is that it doesn't matter. But I want to be sure.
Thanks!Steve from Denver, CO0 -
Question
I agree if not leaking leave alone. Is it buried or accessable, when replacement time comes as long as it is accessable it won't be a real difficult fix. Last, how old is it roughly, my house has had three wet returns in 60 years.

My home is 75 years old. My guess is that the wet return is the same age. It is above the floor and only runs perhaps 25 feet with one 90 elbow.Steve from Denver, CO0 -
At that age
At that age I bet it has been replaced at some point. My house has a stub in the floor where one is under the concrete but was abandoned. Given yours I wouldn't worry, they usually start to seep before totally leaking giving you time to get it addressed.
