Bot Protection in Very General Terms

That authentication is a defense against spam bots, which seek and extract information not limited to e-mail addresses, to further spam proliferation among other things. The practice of setting those characters takes human participation which defeats the automated process bots happen to be.

When you leave the site or re-click on the "Questions" tab, it erases the cookie that your entering of the characters created. That is what it is supposed to do- reverify if it does not detect that you are still continuously connected to the site.

By the way, you can also highlight and drag them to save time.

On the other hand, if you are paranoid, it is because we know who you are, where you live.... :)

What do you mean by drag them and save time? If you mean the letters they change everytime.
  • It's a,,,

typing compentency test, I usually fail the first few tries.

No, not really, what Brad said. Especially the part about highlight and drag. THAT I can do. ;)
  • Each time...

they come up highlight them and drag them to the space. It's mucho easier than trying to figure which O to use.

    Just press

the left-click button on your PC mouse (or just "think it" if you use a Mac :)

Move the cursor over the letters with the button depressed, move it to the white box and release the button. Like I am about to do...

    There!
