multiple speeds, and even delta p, do you even need balance valves? Those old valves sound like just a leak potential.
Have you seen those new autoflow valves. You buy the flow rate you need and pipe them in. No adjusting needed.

Question Hard Seat Globe Valves
Fellow Wallies, what do you think about using hard seat globe valves for balancing loops as opposed to "balancing" valves? I have a system with 3/4" copper series loop system with 4-zones that I am upgrading to P/S using circulators instead of zone valves. I have some ancient yet brand new heavy duty hardseat globe valves that are older then me and I will never use them for anything else! The headloss' that they add is within the flow curve of the circulators. I thought put them to use. Or should I just scrap them and by the balancing valves? These things weigh 3x a same size diameter ball valve!0 -
Globe Valves
Personally I never could see any use for them in a hydronic system, but they may work.
If within the curve, they will likely add extra velocity noise to your system.
